A pure sine wave inverter is an integral part of any solar system. You will want to incorporate one into the design to provide power for AC appliances. This is most often seen in recreational vehicles. boats and off-grid systems.

The review will be presenting inverters from the previously mentioned manufacturers. Giving their specifications, descriptions, features, a customer review rating and other inverters in their range.

What is a DC to AC Pure Sine Wave Inverter?

Solar panels collect energy from the sun which is converted into DC (direct current) electricity. But in order to run appliances that you would use at home AC (alternating current) is required. An inverter changes the DC current provided by the solar panels to usable AC current to power appliances.
Pure Sine Wave simply describes the output voltage wave as opposed to modified sine wave. Pure Sine Wave produces smooth, clean electricity and reduces audible and electrical noise. It is used by utility companies in your home. This is because it is required to run AC motors, newer TV’s and CFL light bulbs smoothly.

The customer rating is 72% mainly due to there not being many ratings. One review did mention his car cig port couldn’t handle the inverter car cig adapter. This was put down to the fuse load in the car with the engine running. But everything worked fine with the engine switched off.

As an in car solution the Powall 500w Pure Sine Wave Inverter is pretty decent. Well built and puts out the power it’s supposed to. The USB port capability is convenient for charging electronic devices when using the car a lot.

The customer rating for the Renogy 700w inverter is 90%. Many of the reviews talk about the quality of the product construction and the ease of setup. It has all the safety features and more and the supplied remote control is a bonus.

From what I can see the poor reviews have come from customers who received a faulty product to begin with. This happens to every manufacturer but there were few complaints about the 700w inverters performance. With 79% giving it 5 stars, 11% giving it 4 starts and 10% 3 stars or less.

This unit is perfect for smaller off-grid systems using 50Ah lithium or 100Ah lead acid batteries.

It might be a little more expensive than similar rated inverters but you only get what you pay for.

1000w 12V Power Saving Inverter
Renogy 1000w 12V Pure Sine Wave Power Saving Inverter

The specs for the power saving inverter differ in a few respects compared to the regular 1000w. Obviously there is a power saving mode and the frequency can be adjusted between 50Hz and 60Hz.

It is slightly larger, heavier and a little more expensive than it’s regular 1000w counterpart. But I don’t think the price difference of $40.00 is that much of a big deal considering the added features.

The 1000w is Renogy’s best selling inverter with a 96% customer rating on their website. With the 1000w power saving commanding a 98% customer rating. I have looked at the reviews on another well known sales platform. They are very confusing in the fact that the reviews do not all relate to the 1000w range.

Many of the poor reviews are related to the sales platforms service. So an accurate assessment isn’t possible. But from the reviews on the Renogy website the biggest gripe seems to be that the fan can sometimes be irritating.

There is a consensus of opinion that both inverters are well made and do what it says on the tin.

So for a solid, reliable 1000w inverter these two are hard to beat.

Made from aluminium with 2 high speed fans the Powall 1200w is built to last. The fans are automatic and will keep the unit running at a cool temperature. This inverter has a soft start function which progressively increases output voltage. This is designed for use with heavy loads and Newpowa say it does it with minimum noise interruption.

Newpowa Powall 1200w Pure Sine Wave Inverter
Features

Complete with an on/off switch the 1200w inverter has a green LED light to show it is operating. A red LED light shows it has shut down due to one of the built-in protections. It has a LCD display showing various states of operation and a USB power port.

This is handy for charging small electronic devices such as smartphones. With 4 x AC outlets and a surge rating of 2400W you will be able to run most AC appliances. There is also a port to allow a wired remote control module.

There is a downside though the inverter doesn’t support lithium batteries. But sealed lead acid, AGM, flooded and GEL are fine.

With no customer reviews it’s difficult to give an overall opinion on this inverter. I have still included it because 1200w output at $179.00 might be just the thing you are looking for. It looks like it has everything you need in an AC inverter. But without supporting lithium batteries it may be a deal breaker.

All of these 200w inverters are constructed from metal alloy and have automatic fans to keep them cool. The Newpowa seems to be the smallest and lightest while providing the most AC output ports. It also has an LCD screen and has the facility of an optional remote control unit.

Renogy 2000w Pure Sine Wave Inverter

The Renogy doesn’t have a LCD screen but both inverters come complete with remote control. A USB port in both the standard Renogy and Newpowa units is a handy edition.

Both the Renogy and Newpowa have LED’s to show the inverters status. Green for every thing is working fine and red for there is a problem.

But the Rich Solar has few technical specs available. I have written to the company to ask about their inverter but no reply up to now.

Rich Solar 2000 WATT INDUSTRIAL PURE SINE WAVE INVERTER
Features

The 2000w inverters include the standard features like safety cut offs and DC input terminal caps for extra safety. But the Renogy power saving unit also has the frequency switch and Eco capability.

Newpowa Powall 2000w Pure Sine Wave Inverter
Overall

The customer ratings for Renogy and Rich Solar are taken from their websites. Rich Solar’s contained only one rating and that was for 100%. But Newpowa had no reviews on their website for the 2000w. So the rating had to be taken from a well known sales platform which is not always reliable.

Although the standard 2000w Renogy is heavier and larger. With a customer rating of 98% and the lowest price tag it has to be the best overall buy. But if you want the convenience of an LCD screen. You might feel the extra $30.99 for the Newpowa is worth it.

Renogy 12V 2000w Pure Sine Wave Power Saving Inverter

For an extra $100. You might feel the Renogy power saving inverter with it’s extra features is worth digging deeper for. The Rich Solar is the most expensive 2000w inverter of the bunch. If you like the company and have used their products before this one could be your choice.

Manufactured to high standards these 3000w pure sine wave inverters are made from durable metal. They have fans that automatically make sure they stay cool. LED’s indicate if the unit is operational or not.

Pumping out 6000w at peak surge they are capable of powering most AC appliances. These include electric ovens, air conditioning units, fridges, freezers, power tools and lights.

Rich Solar 3000 WATT INDUSTRIAL PURE SINE WAVE INVERTER - RICH SOLAR
Features

Unfortunately there isn’t much information available about the Rich Solar inverter. So I will concentrate on the differences between the other two. Both offer excellent protections including input terminal caps and are roughly the same weight and size.

The Renogy offers 3 x AC output ports and 1 xUSB the ACOPower has 2 x AC and no USB. Neither has an LCD display but the Renogy comes with a remote control and the ACOPower is optional.

ACOPower 3000w Power Pure Sine Wave Inverter

The big difference between them is that ACOPower caters for 12/24/48V DC input. And claims a 86.5~93.5% efficiency. While the Renogy is limited to 12V with a 90% efficiency.

Overall

I could not find any customer ratings for either the ACOPower or Rich Solar inverters. The renogy has a 92% rating on their website and is the least expensive amongst the three. With a $729.00 price tag the ACOPower is the most expensive.

I understand it can accommodate 12/24/48V DC inputs and has the potential to be more efficient. If you have a 24V/48V system the ACOPower price may be warranted. But for a 12V system and an extra 6 month warranty I am not so sure.

Renogy 3000w Pure Sine Wave Inverter

Both the Renogy and Rich Solar are much cheaper and I believe the Renogy is much better value for money compared to the other two.

If you know the other two companies well and have purchased from them before. You might want to buy their 3000w inverter based on your previous experience.

My Closing Thoughts

By presenting different wattage inverters specifications in this way. My hope is that the spec comparisons will help you make an informed decision. There are so many inverters on the market that your decision may come down to company reputation.

The main reason I have used mainly customer review guidance from the various company websites. Is because as I mentioned earlier a certain well known sales outlet reviews are sometimes misleading. A percentage of them don’t even relate to the product being sold.

I believe it is better to buy direct from a manufacturer because there is a bigger comeback if things go wrong. Especially when it comes to honouring the 30 day return policy and warranty.

My top selection is the Renogy 1000w 12V Power Saving Inverter. With a customer review rating of 98% on their website. And 88% on the certain well known sales outlets website. It’s quality of construction, features and reliability make it hard to beat.

I hope you enjoyed this review and have found it helpful. If you have any questions about DC To AC Pure Sine Wave Inverters. Or want to leave your own personal review, please feel free to leave a comment below.

  1. Best.Informative post. EVER! I ain’t even in the market for solar panels or Pine wave inverters, nor did I even know these existed, but this would have sold me a hundred times over simply for the attention to detail, use of menus and trustworthiness by researching Customer and sales reviews to check for spam/bots. I might have to copy some of these menu ideas!

    1. Thanks Nicholas

I am really pleased you found my article about inverters informative. This is the first article I have written about them so I am glad it made sense. No problem copying the menu. BTW I re-wrote this article 3 times Ha ha
